Well, today was... uh. Not TOO exciting. Lol. I slept til, well, 7:30, but I TRIED to sleep til 10:30. Didn't work. I ended up getting out of bed at 10. I was nice and warm and didn't want to get out of bed. I'm sure you've had one of those mornings before. Haha. So basically I sat up on the computer all day. Then Shane came home with 300 dollars worth of groceries... that was kewl. Haha. Only dividing up the meat was a pain... there was soooo much of it. And we finally got some more potatoes and vegetable oil. Which reminds me of a recipe I can put on here for you...
Home-made French (or American :P ) Fries
Ingredients
potatoes, obviously...
vegetable oil
all purpose flour
salt
Directions
Well fill up your deep fryer with vegetable oil, or you can use a pan. Either way, it's the same outcome. While you're waiting on that to heat up, you work on your batter. It's simple. You use about 2 cups of all purpose flour and put it in a large mixing bowl, add about 1 tbsp of salt, then a little bit of water at a time. You want the consistency to be able to almost-unwillingly drip off your spoon. Because once you add the potatoes it will water down a little bit towards the end. But after you make your batter, just chop up your potatoes and drop them in your batter and mix it until they're all coated.
Now I wasn't very specific with the amount bc it depends on how much you want to make. You will get used to that after you make these about 2 times. Then you can get a little creative with what you add to it. Like you can use seasoned salt instead of regular salt.
The next step is obviously cooking it. Just drop them one by one into the deep fryer but be careful not to add too many because when you first put them in there they have a tendency to stick to one another. They are really yummy. And you can do the same thing with onions. Making onion rings!
Lol Anyways, after all that Shane comes running in and tells me to come with him. He's across the street at the lake and he just caught a big ole catfish. By the end of the day, between him and Russel, they caught another two more catfish and a big bass. Russel caught one catfish. The rest was Shane. But it was complete luck. Lol. After they were all skinned we had two ziplock gallon bags full of perfectly good, boneless fish meat. Yummy. Lol. So tomorrow or the next day or something Sheldon's wife, Joyce, is going to cook it for us and split it up. Haha. After all, it WAS Sheldon's pond we caught them in. Lol. He owns all the land right around here. He's a good guy.
Anyways, I've got severe ADD when writing this thing. I'm getting sidetracked too much. I've been writing this thing for an hour now... probably longer actually. Sad, right? Anyhow, peace out ppls!
